Amadeus Appoints Fernando Cuesta to Lead European Commercial Team for the Hospitality Business Unit

Madrid, October 21, 2019: Amadeus has appointed Fernando Cuesta as Senior Vice President, Commercial, Europe, Hospitality. Based in Madrid, Cuesta will oversee all European countries as well as French-speaking countries in North Africa.

Cuesta brings more than a decade of in-depth experience within the travel industry to this role. He has spent the last 10 years at Amadeus working across a wide range of markets and areas of the business. Most recently, Cuesta held a dual role as SVP, Western Europe Retail Travel Agencies and also Managing Director for Spain & Portugal. Previously as Global Marketing Director and Managing Director, Middle East & Africa, Cuesta led a long period of sustained growth and excellence in customer proximity and operations.

Prior to joining Amadeus, Cuesta worked in corporate strategy, business development and M&A, strategic alliances and finance helping to grow the business at firms such as Telecom Italia, Euskaltel, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Union Fenosa and Movierecord.

In this new role, Cuesta will work closely with the Hospitality business unit’s customers to forge strategic partnerships, define and lead the commercial activity for the region, and drive business development opportunities.

Cuesta has a bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences and Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, an MBA from IE, and a Master of Management (MAM) degree from the IESE Business School. He also completed the International Strategy Management Program at Harvard Business School.
