Is Your Venue’s Website Being Penalized?

Eric Oppegaard

Google Algorithm will penalize sites that are not mobile friendly.

new-media-tabletGoogle made a major update to its mobile search algorithm that will change the order in which websites are ranked when users search for something from their phone.

The algorithm will start favoring mobile-friendly websites (ones with large text, easy-to-click links, and that resize to fit whatever screen they’re viewed on) and ranking them higher in search. Websites that aren’t mobile-friendly will get demoted.

Google made the announcement, but we think there are many small and large businesses at risk, and hospitality venues are not immune. Either they haven’t had enough time to respond with an adequate strategy or just don’t know about the change.  Working as a partner with Newmarket, we are committed to putting the word out and want to help venues fast track digital solutions and mobile strategies for those hotels, resorts, hospitality clients that are behind the curve.

Responsive Design:

What do we and Google recommend ?   Responsive Design!  Visitors have only one URL to use, businesses do not have to create two copies of the same site and the website will adapt (or “respond”) as viewers move from one device to another, mobile, tablet or desktop.

Have questions? We are here to help you! As a partner to Newmarket, New Media Hospitality is ready to help clients develop a strategy and make the migration to a mobile friendly and responsive design.
