Just in time for the summer, the Amadeus Service Optimization development team unveiled its first internship program at Florida International University’s School of Computing & Information Science. This program allows students a hands on exposure to gain an experience in the hospitality technology industry.
Fortunately, the department was inundated with numerous applicants. Choosing just one intern was challenging due to the diversely qualified applicants, therefore the team decided to select two interns. These interns are Brenda Izquierdo as our Test Engineer intern and Eduardo Porto as our Developer intern.
Alex Neginsky, Director of Development said:
“there has never been a better time to engage with local universities. Our close relationship with FIU makes it the perfect partnership for this program. Today, the hospitality industry is realizing that introducing technology to their daily operations is no longer an amenity but a necessity to differentiate themselves from the market, and deliver on their brand’s promise.”
In 2016, the hospitality industry IT spending is expected to reach record levels. Almost 54% of hotels have plans to invest more in technology with budgets reaching 6% of total revenue, a whopping 20% increase from 2014. These plans are targeted to improve operational efficiencies, guest room technology, as well as guest & employee facing applications.” – Hospitality Technology 2016 Lodging Technology Study
