2022 Summer Travel Trends - France

france infographic

Travel continues its recovery in France as the high period for summer holidays approaches. Hotel occupancy has been climbing each month from a low of 25% in January 2022 to finish at 68% occupancy in May 2022, 2% higher than 2019 (pre-pandemic) levels for the same month.

Also notable is the high transient average daily rate (ADR) achieved by hoteliers, reaching a high of $428 per room in July, versus $331 for the same month in 2019.

Along with the price and demand for hotels, car rentals are also proving popular. Booking volumes are up 104% for the months of June, July, and August 2022 versus 2021, with a 37% bump in average daily rate. Car rental length is also up slightly this year, as the French look to extend their holidays longer than previous years.
