A common problem facing hotels is the quality of their Central Reservations System. Whether the software is outdated, operates in a silo, or is missing functionality, hoteliers are at odds with how to repair the technology to meet their needs. According to a recent study by analyst firm H2C, dissatisfaction is widespread among hotel operators, with one-third of respondents reporting they are missing more than 30% of required functionality from their current CRS. Furthermore, half of all chains report missing at least one key CRS function.

Building for the Future of Hospitality
In addition to building a CRS for the modern hotel enterprise, we also anticipated the needs of hotels of the future. By studying the top 50 hotel chains in the world in terms of size, we knew they were looking for ways to simultaneously de-risk and scale-out technology investments while maintaining strong, flexible corporate control mechanisms to empower their brands to be consistent.
We took these findings and incorporated them into the Amadeus CRS to provide users with a centralized view of their portfolio in real-time. Together with our launch partner InterContinental Hotels Group, we’ve put together a framework that provides a high level of granularity when it comes to assigning control from corporate to property, and vice-versa.
De-Risking through a Detached Approach
The notion that one solution provider for CRS will build and sell everything to a customer is a fable. The Amadeus CRS is not reliant on a monolithic sales and deployment approach. In fact, we know that larger enterprise customers have valuable IP that they’ve bought or built over time — so we architected our CRS to plug in functionality where it’s needed, modularly through microservices and APIs. This component approach will help our customers eliminate costly migrations and make it easier to partner with and introduce other technologies into their business strategy.
CRS Connected Revenue Management
Today many hotel companies are faced with having a disjointed revenue management strategy. This isn’t a new revelation, but one that has challenged enterprise hotel companies significantly in the last 3–5 years. Costs can skyrocket when trying to integrate a PMS with a Revenue Management System like Duetto or Ideas (two of our partners in RMS). The total implementation cost to hotels would likely rise into the thousands and impact operating budgets. Imagine this scenario for a large hotel company with hundreds of properties, and you can really start to see the dollar signs flashing.
